Gravado exclusivamente para ajudar a Cruz Vermelha do Japão, o álbum Songs For Japan arrecadou cerca de 5 milhões de dólares – o equivalente a 8 milhões de reais – nos dez primeiros dias de vendas. O disco tem 38 faixas e reúne as principais vozes internacionais, entre elas Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber e Madonna.

Segundo a imprensa internacional, os lucros já estão sendo entregues à Cruz Vermelha japonesa. As gravadoras e os detentores dos direitos autorais das faixas também doaram os valores dos royalties para o projeto.
